Dear CRS Families,

We hope this letter finds you rested and ready for the new school year!

 

We are asking each family to make a one-time donation to the CRS PTA to fund the PTA budget this year.  These funds will support all the enriching programs the PTA offers our children throughout the school year.

 

This year the PTA will spend approximately $135 per child to fund student enrichment and instructional programs, academic equipment, supplies, teacher training, and infrastructure support for the school.  Programs that directly affect your child include: integrated arts assemblies, Outdoor Odyssey, Art Appreciation, inquiry projects, new computer equipment (technology lab and library), field trip transportation, as well as many others.  Hundreds of Churchill Road children benefit from the funds directed at special education, reading assistance, math lab and the sixth grade party.

 

The PTA’s 2010-2011 budget is over $115,000 (the budget is available on the PTA website).  To fund this budget we are asking every parent to donate $100 per child.  (CRS has approximately 850 students at the start of the school year!)   If we meet our goal of 100% participation, then we will not have to raise additional funds this year.  Fundraisers, as many of you know, involve numerous volunteers and hours so our objective is to make this our sole fundraiser.

 

Fairfax County Public Schools made budget cuts again for the 2010/2011 school year.  The County budget cuts affect each and every one of our students.  If the PTA is fully funded with your donations then we can offset some of the County’s shortfalls in various programs.  The PTA’s priority is to fund the basic academic enrichment budget.

 

Please make your check payable to “CRS PTA” and fund your family’s allocation of the budget at $100 per child.  Please return your check with the form available for downloading on this page to your child’s teacher or the CRS front office.
