CHURCHILL HOOPS CHALLENGE 2010... Men’s and women’s basketball games between CRS teachers and parents!  There will also be a DJ, skills demonstration grades K-3, 5th grade half time show, free throw contest grades 4-6, awesome snack bar, door prizes and a raffle for an I-Pod touch!  In order to take advantage of the advance sale ticket price, purchase tickets on-line before Wednesday, March 3rd.  Advance tickets are $5 per person, $25 family maximum.  (Tickets may also be purchased at the game for $7 per person, $35 family maximum.) Over 25 CRS teachers and staff will be playing or volunteering at this event!  We are still in need of parent volunteers.  Please contact either Angela Proxmire and Terri Markwart at hoopschallenge@churchillroadpta.org to volunteer or for questions.  Please note that this is not a drop-off event.  All students should be accompanied by a responsible adult. During the long, unexpected snow break, 255 CRS students and family members came out on opening day of the movie Percy Jackson and the Olympians:  The Lightning Thief.  It was a packed house, and CRS filled more than half of Tyson's AMC's largest theater!  Thanks for braving the crowds!  It's always exciting to know that you are one of the first to see such a long anticipated movie!   CRS Family Ice Skating Day! Thanks to those families who came out to skate on Sunday!  We hope you all had a great time skating with other CRS parents and students.  We had over 170 people in attendance!   Fall Family Movie Night and Costume Swap! Thanks for helping to make our first event, the Fall Family Movie Night and Costume Swap such a success!  Over 250 people attended!  Thanks to everyone who brought in their costumes to swap and donate.  Approximately 50% of those who brought a costume were able to find another one they liked!  Forty three costumes were donated to the Katherine K. Hanley Family Shelter in Fairfax County.   About the CRS Family Activities Committee... The CRS Family Activities Committee organizes a number of family-centered activities during the year to encourage school and community spirit.  These activities include the Fall Family Movie Night, Family Ice Skating Day, Ice Cream Social and DJ, the Parade of Cuisines, and the Backyard BBQ and Movie Night.  If you would like to help with any of these events, please let us know.  We would love to have your help, and it is a great way to get to know others at CRS!
