Community Service

The Community Service Committee is currently seeking volunteers for the 2017-2018 school year.  If you are interested, please email the CRS PTA Executive Board by clicking here to inquire about ways you can get involved.

Mark your calendars now to participate with your child in this year’s community service activities. Parent and student volunteers are vital to the success of these projects. This year’s events include sandwich-making for the hungry and homeless served by Martha’s Table in Washington, DC; the holiday gift drive to benefit families at our buddy school, Dogwood Elementary, in Reston; and two drives to support SHARE, which assists the needy in Northern Virginia. Here are the dates of these scheduled activities:

October 18, 2017 (tentative):  Martha’s Table Sandwich Making – Grades 1,3,5
Week of November 13, 2017 (tentative):  Thanksgiving drive for SHARE
February 2018:  Used Book Drive
March 14, 2018 (tentative):  Martha’s Table Sandwich Making – Grades K,2,4,6
Week of April 23, 2018 (tentative):  Spring SHARE Drive

There are many ways your family can participate, such as donating food for sandwich making and the SHARE drive; helping to make sandwiches after school; and collecting, sorting, and delivering holiday gifts for families at our buddy school. As these events draw closer, we’ll be seeking volunteers. Look for more information throughout the school year in CRS's News You Chooseand your child’s VIP folder. Your time, attention and enthusiasm are greatly appreciated.
