Churchill Road 60th Anniversary Celebration

Date: Saturday, May 5

Time: 5:30 to 8:00 p.m.

Location: Greenhouse Tysons

Greenhouse Tysons

Get ready for a fabulous evening of live Derby races, Derby-inspired games, and tastings! Let's celebrate 60 years of Churchill Road and thank our wonderful teachers and staff. Plus, just like our 5K and Parents vs. Staff Basketball events, the Cinco de Derby will raise funds for the CRS PTA to help Churchill Road even more! Note: This is an adult only occasion.

What is Cinco de Derby? When you realize the Kentucky Derby-themed 60th Anniversary Party (because Churchill Downs is where they run the Kentucky Derby) happens to fall on Cinco de Mayo, you want the best of both worlds to celebrate! Ponies + Pinatas! Fancy Hats + Sombreros! Fried Chicken + Tacos! Mint Juleps + Margaritas! And so much more! See our FAQs below for even more details.

  • Early Bird Price: $50 per adult, from Tuesday, 3/20, to midnight on Friday, 4/13
  • General Price: $60 per adult, from Saturday, 4/14, to midnight on Wednesday, 5/2

Ticket sales closed on Wednesday, 5/2.

Note: To order tickets, you must be logged in to your CRS PTA account. Don't have a CRS PTA account? It's easy to create and open to all CRS families, alumni and staff. When setting up your account, you can choose to join the CRS PTA, but this is not required in order to be able to buy tickets. Questions? Please contact

Tell me about the Derby-inspired games:

  • Try your luck in our Derby-determined Win-Place-Show raffle!
    • Buy raffle tickets and place tickets in the vases of the horses that you think will Win (first place), Place (second place), and/or Show (third place).
    • Race coverage will be on, so you'll know the latest odds before picking your horse.
    • After the race, we'll draw one winning ticket from each of the vases of the top three horses to determine the lucky winners.
  • What can you win?
    • First Place: 50:50 raffle! Yes, half of the evening's take (the rest goes to the PTA to further support the CRS community).
    • Place & Show: Winners get their pick of cute little mini pinatas - but these aren't stuffed with candy - they are stuffed with cash and/or gift cards!
  • What if I don't win, but I really want a pinata? You are in luck! We will have several themed, full-size pinatas available for silent auction...and they are filled with really good stuff!
Tell me about the tastings:
  • We will have flights with sips of bourbon (from Kentucky and beyond) and flights with sips of tequila (from Mexico and beyond), with tasting notes for each and an expert on hand to answer your questions.
  • We recommend partaking in one flight, not both.
  • Note: Tastings are for an additional fee, paid at the event.

Tell me about attire - is this fancy?: Think like what you would wear to your fave date-night spot. Bonus points for an on-theme spin to your style, say traditionally Southern seersucker or festive, bright Mexican-inspired embroidery. Plus, if you want, a fancy hat, fascinator, or even sombrero. Yes, we are serious - we have ribbons for best dressed and best hat. No pressure! (No, really, it's just meant to be fun for those who want to play. You totally don't have to wear a hat.)

Horses! Pinatas! My kids will love this! Sadly no, they won't as this event is just for the grown-ups. As we kick off Teacher Appreciation the Monday after the party, we thought it would be great to invite the teachers and staff as our guests so they could enjoy an adult evening with the parents. But don't worry, the family favorite Backyard BBQ is just around the corner on May 18!

I plan to come solo. Will I feel weird? No, not at all, based on ticket sales. Lots of people can't swing the event as a couple (this is McLean, after all, people are busy and, you know - sports, sports, sports) and are joining us solo.

I have specific dietary requirements. Will I be able to eat? Yes! The menu has been thoughtfully planned to provide for most if not all allergen, dietary and cultural requirements. Please contact for specific menu questions.

Is there parking? Yes, there are a few spots out front and ample parking in the garage behind Greenhouse Tysons (which is a fabulous CRS parent owned restaurant). Greenhouse is less than 4 miles from school, so other options like Uber are also a great and inexpensive choice.
