Holiday Toy Drive for Dogwood Elementary Students

Our Holiday 2018 Toy Drive was open from Monday, December 3, to Friday, December 7.

Thank you to all parents and students considering donating toys for our annual drive to help the students of Dogwood Elementary, our Title I sister school based in Reston. Your generosity has a big impact on these students - the poverty rate at Dogwood is approximately 80%. Each year nearly 400 students receive a gift from the "holiday shop" hosted by the Dogwood Elementary parent liaisons - made possible by the contributions of the CRS community. Learn more about our toy drive & Dogwood in this presentation to the PTA membership. You can sign up to help collect gifts (12/3-12/7; just a 15-minute commitment!) or deliver gifts on Friday, December 7, on our SignUpGenius form (SUG).

Shopping Guidelines

  • Please choose age-appropriate toys for students between the ages of 3 to 12 as Dogwood is comprised of students in Head Start (3-4 year olds) as well as in grades Kindergarten through 6.
  • Please keep gifts to a cost of no more than $30.
  • Please DO NOT purchase toy guns or other weapons (including NERF products).
  • Gift cards to Target or Walmart are always welcome as sometimes there are gaps in the numbers of toys provided for certain ages. The Dogwood Elementary parent liaisons will shop for toys to fill-in as needed.
  • Gifts should be unwrapped.
  • If purchasing a gift that requires batteries, please include them as well. Given the cost of batteries, our families cannot always afford them.
