International Parade of Cuisines

Join us for the 25th annual International Parade of Cuisines

and our 2019 Family Heritage Celebration!

Date: Friday, March 1, 2019
Time: 6 - 8 p.m.
Location: Gym at Churchill Road Elementary

This year marks the 25th year of Churchill Road's International Parade of Cuisines! In the spirit of honoring the cultural roots of ALL of our Bobcat families, we are launching a Family Heritage Celebration program! The program consists of FIVE exciting activities! We are inviting ALL Bobcat families to participate!

 Heritage Around Me

Students are encouraged to decorate the art craft template with any materials in order to represent their family heritage. This will be an excellent opportunity for discussing or even researching the origin of each family. How many generations can you trace back? When did the family move to the US? What are the traditions that families have kept across the generations? What are the symbols of the family heritage?

Download the Template

Students must return the completed artwork to their homeroom teachers by Wednesday, February 27. All submitted work will be shown on Family Heritage Night and the student artists' names will be entered in a raffle. The raffle drawing will be held on Family Heritage Night. Students must be present to win the prize!

Fashion and Flag Show

Showcase on the stage the traditional clothes of a culture or the flag of a country, be it of your family heritage or your personal interest and tell the audience a little bit about the culture or country you are representing. Catwalk or otherwise, alone or with your family, it's your time to shine on the runway on Family Heritage Night! Flags will be provided.

To perform in the show, you will need to:

  1. Sign up by Friday, February 22.
  2. Commit to rehearsal on Thursday, February 28, from 6:30-7:30 p.m.. (Rehearsal will be held in the CRS gym.)

Cultural Performances

If the runway is not your cup of tea, how about a cultural performance that gives the audience an artistic presentation of the unique culture of your choosing? Singing, dancing, kung fu or others, the more the merrier!

  1. Sign up by Friday, February 22.
  2. Commit to rehearsal on Thursday, February 28, from 6:30-7:30 p.m.. (Rehearsal will be held in the CRS gym.)

 Cultural Booths

What are the special artifacts people use in their culture? How do other languages look different from English? What are children's favorite games in a particular culture? Come and host a Cultural Booth on Family Heritage Night and introduce the culture to your visitors.

Have some time to help? We need you! We're looking for help with set-up or clean-up for the event.
